Three people are dead and nine others are injured after multiple shooters opened fire in a mass shooting at a New York City club, according to the New York City Police Department.

"Gun violence of this magnitude, it really scars a community and a city," New York City Mayor Eric Adams said during a press briefing that took place in the late morning of Sunday, Aug. 17.

Police first received calls reporting the shooting at 3:27 a.m. local time on Sunday, Aug. 17, according to New York Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch. When police arrived at the scene, they found 12 victims, ranging in age from 19 to 61 years old, in the Taste Of The City Lounge in Brooklyn's Crown Heights neighborhood.
