CROSSLAKE — The Crosslake Area Garden Club will host a presentation on “Preserving Your Harvest,” by Sheila Boldt, at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, at the Crosslake Community Center, 14126 Daggett Pine Road.

Gardens bring an influx of produce all at once, so it’s a must to preserve your harvest in one form or another. The club will review a variety of fruits, vegetables, flowers and herbs and how you can pressure can, freeze or dehydrate your harvest to use later in the season.

Once you’re familiar with the variety of ways, you can decide which is the most efficient and convenient for you, your family or to package as gifts.

Boldt grew up in the Brainerd lakes area gardening, foraging and canning from a young age. Her grandmother was Genevieve Borden, of the Merrifield Garden Club.
