BURLINGTON, N.C. — A Burlington police officer and two others were injured Saturday afternoon when a patrol vehicle collided with another car and then struck a building while responding to a shooting call, according to the police department.
The crash happened around 4:15 p.m. at the intersection of South Mebane Street and Maple Avenue. Investigators said the officer was driving a marked patrol car to a reported shooting in the 1300 block of Hilldale Drive when the car collided with another vehicle. The impact pushed the cruiser into a building at 427 Maple Avenue.
The officer and the two people in the other vehicle sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Emergency crews transported them to local hospitals.
