NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - A former weatherman, reporter, and newscaster at WSM-TV, now WSMV, has passed away.

Bob Olsen was 93 when he died on Aug. 7, 2025, and had a long history in the Nashville television industry.

Olsen worked at WSM-TV from 1960 to about 1975 on air. He was also the Director of Action News and even hosted the “Opry Almanac.”

While working for WSM-TV, Olsen pursued his law degree and earned his J.D. from Vanderbilt Law School in 1975. That same year, he ran for Congress in a special election and held roles in state government before working in healthcare law.
