LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - The IRONMAN 70.3 Triathlon returned to Louisville on Sunday, bringing out thousands of athletes and their supporters.

The half Ironman consists of a 1.2-mile swim in the Ohio River, a 56-mile bike ride and a 13.1-mile run ending in Fourth Street Live.

Along the way, the crowds cheered on their athlete as they took on the challenge. For many, including Maria Hauersperger, it’s a family affair as she cheered on her son and daughter-in-law.

“We’re so happy for them because it’s something they really enjoy doing, and we’re enjoying spending time together,” Hauersperger said.
