LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - Typical summer weather will continue for now before rain chances increase later in the week.

Monday looks like our usual summer day with a quick warm up, brining high temps in the low/mid 90’s and heat indices around 105 degrees. With a slight increase in moisture, isolated-to-scattered storms may take place in the afternoon, though there should be plenty of breaks in between storms.

Late in the week, upper-level high pressure will back away and be replaced by increasing moisture. This should cause rain chances should go up again by Thursday and Friday. We have plenty of time to watch for how numerous storms may be, but at least our usual summertime coverage seems like a good bet.

As for the tropics, Hurricane Erin still churns north of the Leeward Islands. Af
