The National Weather Service issued a report at 6:35 p.m. on Sunday for strong thunderstorms until 7:15 p.m. for Manhattan, the Bronx, Brooklyn and Queens as well as Nassau County.

Residents can anticipate wind gusts of up to 50 mph.

"At 6:35 p.m., Doppler radar tracked strong thunderstorms along a line extending from East Tremont to Forest Hills to Flatbush to Coney Island. Movement was southeast at 15 mph," says the weather service. "Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects."

Locations impacted by the alert include Jamaica, Flatbush, Flushing, Mott Haven, East Tremont, Valley Stream, Long Beach, Coney Island, Garden City, Lynbrook, Mineola, Woodmere, Rockaway Beach, Great Neck and Crown Heights.
