WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — The Little League Classic between the Mets and Mariners has been delayed due to a passing storm in the area.

A downpour passed through the Williamsport region around 6 p.m., forcing the grounds crew at Journey Bank Ballpark at Historic Bowman Field to roll out the tarp. The game is now expected to begin at 7:45 p.m.

The Mets entered the rubber game against the Mariners looking to snap a streak of five straight series losses. They secured a 3-1 win over the Mariners on Saturday at Citi Field.

Clay Holmes was set to pitch in his third Little League Classic on Sunday night — his first as a starting pitcher. The Mariners were set to roll out George Kirby for the game. Expert MLB daily picks: Unique MLB betting insights only at USA TODAY
