BELTON — Before pronouncing a prison sentence for manslaughter, a local district court judge seemed skeptical of a man’s description of the circumstances regarding a fatal shooting that occurred in Killeen just over five years ago.

“It seems to me there’s more to the story ... it feels incomplete and I’m going to have to make a tough decision in a couple of minutes,” said Judge Paul LePak from the bench to the defendant, Sean Thomas Bordelon, who had just testified in his own defense during a sentencing hearing on Friday afternoon.

“I had no intention to hurt him,” said Bordelon to the 264th Judicial District Court judge. “He was an amazing dude. He took the time to try to get to know me.”

Now 32 years old, Bordelon was 26 on June 1, 2020, when he shot and killed 35-year-old Christopher
