CLEMSON, S.C. — Clemson Coach Dabo Swinney said on Sunday that he is aware of a player's recent arrest ahead of the football season and that it would impact his ability to play in upcoming games.

In a statement provided to WLTX by Clemson Athletics, Swinney acknowledged reports of Ian Schieffelin's arrest for a charge he described as "suspicion of DUI."

"Clemson Athletics has a clear policy by which we will abide, so Ian will miss some competition to start this season as a consequence," he said in the statement. "We’re obviously very disappointed by the situation, but we are very thankful no others were involved and no one was hurt.”
