ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — Here are my five thoughts on the Buffalo Bills ’ 38-0 preseason loss against the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field Sunday night:

1. Forget the outcome. It was a preseason game, so the outcome doesn’t matter, regardless of its lopsidedness.

One might also argue the pathetic showing by a lineup of mostly backup Bills players also doesn’t matter. Put all the starters out there, especially Josh Allen, and there’s little doubt this would have been a very different performance.

Instead, those second- and third-stringers, guys who supposedly are trying to make a case to stay on the roster, were given the chance to show what they could do. What they did was put on a lifeless, listless, sloppy display on both sides of the ball for the entirety of the game. The Bears, who had
