MOBILE COUNTY, Ala. (WKRG) — Volunteers gathered on Saturday to clean up parks and waterways along south Mobile County.
Nonprofit organization Peninsula of Mobile and city residents helped pick up litter scattered south of I-10, in areas including Mobile Bay, Alba Beach, Dog River, and McNally Park.
Volunteers stuffed bags with bottles, fast food trash, cables, and house tiles. Larger items such as tires and car parts were even found along the peninsula.
“It's surrounded by water,” Kenley Cutts of Peninsula of Mobile said. “It's honestly a geographical anomaly. You really don't see those a lot in Alabama and it's a really beautiful and unique space.”
People gathered at McNally Park to collect supplies at 8 a.m. Saturday before dispersing throughout the peninsula. They collected trash f
