ATLANTA — Councilmember Marci Collier Overstreet is calling on MARTA to answer questions from concerned citizens regarding safety protocols at the transit stations.

The Atlanta City councilmember was one of the first to call for a transparent, public, and accountable investigation following the Vine City MARTA Station escalator mishap back in July.

Since this incident, two officers have been assaulted at a MARTA transit station, heightening safety concerns from citizens.

During the press conference on Sunday, August 17, Councilmember Overstreet announced legislation that will formally call on MARTA to provide detailed safety protocols. The Council will take up the resolution on Monday.
