KENNESAW, Ga. — Parents are raising concerns about student safety at Kennesaw State University after a contractor’s mistake left dorm rooms unsecured on both the Kennesaw and Marietta campuses.
Terrance, the father of a junior at KSU, said he filed two police reports after learning someone unfamiliar had entered his daughter’s dorm room. He said the incidents happened 13 days apart, with her door — and others — found propped open.
“The number one thing that popped in my head was safety,” Terrance said. “That just blew me away.”
KSU police launched an investigation and discovered a contractor working on scheduled dorm maintenance was responsible. According to the university, the contractor was terminated after security systems confirmed the same individual was involved in both incidents.
