Boston Red Sox reliever Greg Weissert was the pitcher of record in Sunday’s 5-3 loss to the Miami Marlins. The righty entered the game in the top of the ninth inning and allowed a lead-off, game-tying home run to Dane Myers.

Weissert exited the game after recording an out and surrendering another base hit. Steven Matz took over and also allowed a home run, giving the Marlins a lead that ultimately was enough to win.

After the game, Weissert took the blame for the loss.

“It sucks. Hanging a slider like that, you can’t really expect good results,” Weissert said. “I just didn’t get it done, unfortunately, tonight. … It sucks to be the person that’s responsible for it.”
