Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh might be running away with the American League MVP award.

Raleigh hit home run No. 47 on Sunday night against the New York Mets, extending his lead atop MLB’s home run list. Los Angeles Dodgers’ Shohei Ohtani and Philadelphia Phillies’ Kyle Schwarber were tied for second place behind Raleigh with 43 homers apiece as of 10 p.m. ET on Sunday.

Raleigh’s No. 47 happened in the top of the seventh inning against Mets relief pitcher Reed Garrett.

Raleigh is closing in on Salvador Perez’s record of 48 home runs in a single season for a catcher, which was set in 2021 with the Kansas City Royals.
