NORFOLK, Va. — School is almost back in session, with Norfolk and Portsmouth public school students set to return Monday.

While some students are worried about what they are going to wear to school, some students are wondering how they are even going to get to school.

Hampton Roads Transit tells us they have been working to resolve that worry with a program geared toward students that is meant to take away the burden of transportation.

"Not everyone has a vehicle, certainly not students have access to a vehicle," said Thomas Becher, communications manager for Hampton Roads Transit.

In 2016, Hampton Roads Transit piloted the Student Freedom Pass Initiative in effort to engage youth involvement. For the past nine years, the program has helped thousands of high school students across six
