SANTA CRUZ, Calif. —

Joby Aviation announced on Friday that it has completed its first piloted air taxi flight between two airports.

The flight from Marina Airport to Monterey Regional Airport lasted about 12 minutes over roughly 10 nautical miles, including a five-minute holding pattern at Monterey Regional Airport for air traffic spacing.

The piloted flight included vertical takeoff, transition to wingborne flight, integration into the controlled airspace around and a vertical landing.

This marks the first piloted electric vertical takeoff and landing air taxi service between two airports. The flight also showed Joby's ability to safely conduct mobile flight tests and deliver full ground support operations away from its home base in Marina.
