A bond that started as teammates on the ice has grown into a lifelong friendship off of it — and now Riley Scorgie , Layla Matthew and Ella Lloyd are moving toward the next chapter of their hockey journeys, each chasing their own NCAA hockey dreams, even if it means playing apart for awhile.
Scorgie, Matthew and Lloyd knew of each other in hockey circles when they were coming up through the minor leagues, but never played together until 2023 when they suited up for the U-18 Edmonton Junior Oilers. Now, Scorgie and Matthew will be heading to the state of New York to play for Cornell and Clarkson universities, respectively, while Lloyd will move to Boston to play for Northeastern University.
