MESA, Ariz. — A woman drowned in Mesa on Sunday afternoon.

The Mesa Police Department responded to assist Mesa Fire with a report of a drowning near Gilbert Road and Main Street.

The woman was taken to the hospital and later died, police said.

Police said her death does not appear to be suspicious at this time.
