Caring dad dies suddenly days after being bitten by venomous spider
A family is calling for change after a dad died suddenly just days after being bitten by a "venomous spider". Mark Kirby bought five of the spiders online a few weeks earlier.
But he took ill after being bitten by one of them. The 38-year-old died on Saturday, August 2 after developing "flu-like" symptoms.
His ex-partner of 16 years and mother to his children, Kayleigh Gill, is now calling for a change in the law to stop the same thing happening to others. She told the Liverpool Echo she is in "complete shock" following his death.
She said: "He told me about the bite and I said he needed to go to hospital but he didn't. People shouldn't be able to buy these spiders online, people should need licences to own them."
