The pause on paws has been lifted for healthy cats needing admission to the Guilford County Animal Shelter as quarantined felines suspected of exposure to rabies have emerged healthy, shelter officials said Friday.
Last month, two cats in Guilford County, both feral, tested positive for the deadly virus, prompting the shelter to quarantine “several’’ other feral cats for 10 days to make certain they were not infected, said Lisa Lee, assistant deputy director of the Greensboro shelter.
All tested negative for rabies on day 11 and doors are now open to healthy kitties.
The rabid cats were found in the High Point/Jamestown area and in Guilford County’s Pleasant Garden community, according to Lee.
