A new Mexican restaurant is skipping the fajitas, chimichangas and other standard fare in favor of more homestyle cooking.
Guisados Home Style Grill opened July 4th in a former bakery location in a strip center at 5700 W. Market St., specializing in Mexican “guisados,” slowly simmered stews and braised dishes.
Guisados not only eschews the stereotype of a U.S. Mexican restaurant, but also strews the menu with other Latin fare - so some people may consider it more of a broadly Latin, than strictly Mexican, restaurant.
From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. every day, Guisados features about a half-dozen guisados on its front steam table. Customers can choose one protein and two sides for $10.95 or two proteins and two sides for $13.95.
