The seasonally adjusted annualized rate of housing starts rose to 294,085 units in June, the national housing agency says.

Canadian housing starts unexpectedly rose in July, advancing 4% from the previous month, data from the national housing agency showed on Monday.

The seasonally adjusted annualized rate of housing starts rose to 294,085 units from a revised 283,523 units in June, the Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) said.
