COLCHESTER, Vt. (WCAX) - Police say one person is dead after being hit by a car in Colchester.

It happened just before 9 p.m. Saturday on Malletts Bay Avenue near the intersection of Young Street.

Investigators say a pedestrian was struck by a motor vehicle and that bystanders made resuscitative efforts. Colchester Rescue pronounced the male pedestrian dead at the scene.

Police say a 16-year-old boy was driving the vehicle. His name is being withheld because of his age. The pedestrian’s name is also being withheld until his family is notified.
