CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - Former U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown , D-Ohio, announced he’s running for one of two U.S. Senate seats in the November 2026 election.

Brown made the official announcement Monday morning, on multiple social media platforms.

Brown lost his U.S. Senate seat to Bernie Moreno , R-Ohio, in 2024, a seat Brown had held since 2007.

The 72-year-old former U.S. Senator will now challenge U.S. Senator Jon Husted .

Senate currently consists of 53 Republicans, 45 Democrats and two Independents.
