Prince Harry left a secret tribute to his late grandfather Prince Philip during a royal event in the Midlands.

The Duke of Sussex asked a friend to discreetly leave a personal note paying tribute to the late Duke of Edinburgh.

The note and a wreath of red poppies were placed at the National Memorial Arboretum, in Staffordshire .

It came after commemorations were held there marking the 80th anniversary of VJ Day on Friday, August 15.

Harry asked a friend to leave his tribute at the Burma Star Memorial.

The letter was placed after King Charles and Queen Camilla left to avoid distracting from the service which honoured the sacrifice of Second World War heroes who fought and died in the Pacific
