OXFORD, CT (WFSB) - The Town of Oxford sought to honor the lives lost and forever changed during last year’s historic floods.
Ethelyn Joiner, 65, and 71-year-old Audrey Rostkowski were both swept away when the water from the Little River reached dangerous levels on the Aug. 18, 2024.
In addition to those lives that were lost, countless homes and businesses were destroyed.
Monday, town officials scheduled a memorial ceremony for 11 a.m. at Oxford Town Hall.
Sen. Richard Blumenthal planned to attend.
Organizers said the plan was to honor those who died, recognize the resilience of the town’s residents, and convey gratitude to those who responded to help.
