CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - The Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office chief deputy Chris Allen resigned Monday morning, according to multiple sources, mere months after a similar resignation from his predecessor.

Allen replaced Kevin Canty as the agency’s second-in-command after Canty resigned less than one year ago, calling sheriff Garry McFadden unfit for office .

WBTV has obtained a copy of Allen’s resignation letter, dated August 18.

“During my tenure at the agency, I have endured constant backstabbing, lies, disrespect and fake narratives, all orchestrated by you, in an attempt to assassinate my character,” the letter read, directed at McFadden.
