CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - A 16-year-old boy was the city’s latest victim of gun violence over the weekend in northeast Charlotte, according to police.
Charlotte police investigate the deadly shooting that occurred around 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 17 on Hillsboro Avenue near N. Tryon Street.
Family of the victim said they’re in disbelief of what happened to their loved one and want whoever is responsible caught, and held accountable.
At their home, bullet holes and broken glass still serve as a painful reminder to the Stokes family. Their lives forever changed after someone shot up their house Sunday morning.
“He did not deserve to die, to get his life taken.” said Latoya Stokes. Stokes said she and her nephew, 16-year-old Tyshaun Stokes, were on the porch when the unthinkable happened.
