After a decorated one-year stint on the Plains in 2010, delivering the program’s second national championship and an undefeated season, Auburn athletics announced they will retire Cam Newton’s No. 2 jersey.

Newton became the Tigers’ third Heisman trophy winner after throwing for 2,854 yards and 30 touchdowns while adding 1,473 rushing yards and 20 touchdowns on the ground in 2010. He was the only player in the NCAA to have five 170+ yard games, and was the third player in NCAA FBS history to total 20 rushing and 20 passing touchdowns in a single season.
