Auburn University announced Monday morning that it will officially retire Cam Newton’s No. 2 jersey on Oct. 11 during the Tigers’ game against Georgia.

Newton will join fellow Heisman Trophy winners Pat Sullivan (No. 7) and Bo Jackson (No. 34) in having his number retired at Auburn. Wide receiver Terry Beasley’s No. 88 is also retired.

The 2010 Heisman Trophy recipient led the Tigers to a 14-0 record and 2010 SEC and BCS National Championship. He finished the year with 2,854 passing yards and 30 touchdowns, while also rushing for 1,473 yards and 20 touchdowns.
