A Dry Fork man died in a car wreck in Pittsylvania County early Monday morning.

Kevin Leander Myers, 37, died after the southbound 2022 Nissan he was driving crossed the center line on Mount Cross Road, overcorrected, ran off the right side of the road and struck a tree, according to a news release from Virginia State Police Sgt. Rick Garletts.

The crash occurred at 4:42 a.m. Monday near Cross Stitch Road in Pittsylvania County. The car was traveling at a high rate of speed, according to the news release.

Myers was not wearing a seat belt.

The crash remains under investigation.
