Family and friends of Rachel Wright and Ricardo Duperior remembered the two young adults as generous and full of life, following the acquittal of one of two men arrested in connection with their deaths in 2022.

Wright and Duperior were fatally shot at a Birchwood Homes townhouse in the early morning hours of Aug. 7, 2022.

One of two accused shooters, 22-year-old Kapri Raymond Willis, was acquitted Friday afternoon. His codefendant, Joshua Marquez Bell, is scheduled to stand trial on Oct. 27 at Rabinowitz Courthouse in Fairbanks.

Rachel Wright’s father, Michael Wright, remembers his daughter as energetic, sweet, outgoing and caring.

“She was always smiling,” he said.
