A St. Louis man is in custody after shooting into the driver’s side window of a Columbia police car.

Authorities say just after 5:30 PM Sunday, Columbia Police Department officers responded to a vandalism call on old Foxworth Road. While in the area, officers were advised of possible squatters at a neighboring property.

When officers went to investigate the squatters, a person escaping to the rear of that residence saw one of the Columbia Police Department patrol cars. Armed with a shotgun, the suspect fired into the driver’s side window and door, striking it with buckshot from a stolen 12-gauge shotgun.

Thankfully, no officer was injured.
