MACON, Ga. — The shooting of a 12-year-old in Bloomfield on Sunday caused a retaliatory shooting, according to the Bibb County Sheriff's Office.

A 12-year-old was sent to the hospital in critical condition Sunday after being shot on Mint Green Lane, the sheriff's office said in a press release.

That happened at around 5 p.m. Two children — one 14 and another 12 — were arrested later in the 2300 block of Houston Avenue in connection to the shooting, but the 12-year-old has since been released to his parents ahead of their court proceedings.

But then, nearly 1.5 hours later at 6:30 p.m., another shooting took place in the 2200 block of Silver Pines Drive area in retaliation for the shooting of the 12-year-old.
