BALLSTON SPA - State Supreme Court Justice James Walsh walked into the courtroom Monday morning and unexpectedly announced that he is recusing himself from the case that may ultimately weigh heavily on November’s election.

“I received a text message at approximately 10 minutes to 9 o’clock on Saturday night with a person who I believe has interest in this case,” Judge Walsh told the court Monday morning announcing his recusal. He did not reveal the origin of the text message, although he did appear to additionally say that the text message was "inappropriate" and lengthy.
