TIMES SQUARE, Manhattan (WABC) -- Police are questioning a man who they say left a suspicious object outside the NYPD Times Square substation and walked away.
The investigation prompted police to close Seventh Avenue between 42nd and 44th Streets on Monday morning.
The bomb squad determined the object was not a threat and streets were reopened.
The 26-year-old Bronx man was picked up by detectives. He has been taken to the hospital for a psych evaluation.
Detectives are reviewing the object and the papers inside, but say there was no obvious message or threat implied by the object.
Police will interview him to see his motivations, and whether he intended to create alarm by leaving the object in front of the substation.
It is not yet clear if any charges have been filed.
