MACON, Ga. — A downtown Macon restaurant is closing "effective immediately" shortly after announcing plans to reformat.

Kinjo Kitchen + Cocktails is shutting down after 5 years at the intersection of Poplar and 2nd Street.

"This is not the way we envisioned this chapter ending, and we are deeply sorry for the suddenness of this news," the restaurant said on Facebook.

According to the post, they say that they originally were planning on staying open until Aug. 23 before closing temporarily before reopening as a new concept. But on Monday, they said that the "circumstances have changed" and they'll be closing for good.

The restaurant did not say what about the circumstances prompted the closure.
