A man was critically injured when he was struck by lightning at a Morris County golf course on Aug. 17, authorities said.
Florham Park police received a report at 6:18 p.m. of a golfer in cardiac arrest after being struck at Pinch Brook Golf Course, said Lt. Brian Ford, public information officer for the department. Officers responded to the area between the second and 16th holes, where witnesses reported seeing the man lose consciousness and stop breathing after the incident.
Bystanders performed lifesaving efforts on the 36-year-old victim, whose name has not been released, before emergency personnel arrived. The group included Mark Chiarolanza, a longtime member of the Florham Park First Aid Squad and retired Morris County Sheriff's Office captain.
