A 20-year-old woman was critically injured Sunday afternoon in a single-vehicle motorcycle collision on Farrington Highway in Waianae, police said.
According to the Honolulu Police Department’s Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, the crash occurred at about 3:03 p.m., east of Ala Akau Street. Investigators said the woman was riding westbound when she lost control of her motorcycle and struck a raised concrete curb. She was ejected from the motorcycle onto the roadway.
Emergency Medical Services transported the woman to an area hospital in critical condition.
Police reported that the motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision. Speed is believed to be a contributing factor in the crash, though it is not yet known whether drugs or alcohol may have been inv
