A controversial decision by Essex council on whether to temporarily allow the Hearn Hunting & Fishing Lodge in Harrow to continue holding wedding events on weekends was deferred by council Aug. 11 after two tie votes failed to approve the necessary bylaw.

Council eventually voted to table the bylaw, which means it’s off council’s agenda unless a councillor requests that it be brought back. On Sept. 15, the issue becomes “operational,” Mayor Sherry Bondy told the Star. If residents complain to the town, “administration can take action if they choose,” she said.

The two ties stalled at four votes apiece.
