A 16-year-old girl has died from injuries sustained in a watercraft collision on Lake St. Clair this month.

Ontario Provincial Police announced the teenager from Calgary, who was airlifted to a specialized trauma centre with life-threatening injuries last week, died on Wednesday.

The crash, which happened in Lakeshore on Aug. 14, had already claimed the life of a 17-year-old girl from Windsor-Essex.

Two other girls, ages 15 and 17, were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A witness to the crash, Marco Malizia, previously told the Star that two teens were riding a personal watercraft and towing two more teens on an inflatable tube.

The watercraft crashed into the metal breakwall along Couture Beach Road.
