A man who had been sentenced to state prison was erroneously released from the Harris County Jail early Sunday, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, which said Monday it was searching for the man.
A preliminary investigation into the release of 36-year-old Troy Dugas determined that staffers inside of the downtown Houston jail didn’t properly document his state prison sentence, the sheriff’s office said. Dugas was recently sentenced to 5 years in state prison for committing family violence assault in Fort Bend County and another 2 years for evading arrest in Brazoria County, according to the sheriff’s office.
