EFFINGHAM, Ill. (WCIA) -- An Effingham man was arrested over the weekend after police said in a span of one day, he committed criminal trespass, retail theft and vehicle theft.

Police said in a news release that officers were made aware of the theft Friday at 10:33 p.m. City of Effingham police officers and Effingham County Sheriff's deputies began searching the area and minutes later, they found the stolen car in the area of Banker Street and Kagay Avenue. The car was driving at slow speed, without headlights and on its rims, officials said.

They added that the car hit multiple unattended vehicles along with a mailbox before officers arrested the driver -- 21-year-old Draven Shelton -- at the intersection of 4th and Clark Avenue.
