Windsor police officials say efforts to increase safety and cut crime in the Glengarry neighbourhood have resulted in lower crime rates a year into a community-focused approach.
Since the Glengarry safety initiative was launched a year ago, police report drug crimes dropped a whopping 63 per cent, while crimes against persons decreased 38 per cent and crimes against property were down 45 per cent.
Calls for service to the area also decreased by 14 per cent as total arrests increased by 33 per cent.
Officials said proactive enforcement drove a 162 per cent uptake in Criminal Code offence charges, most related to court release violations such as bail and probation violations, among others.
