Porch pirates live and die by the luck of the draw.

A package could contain jewelry or electronics. Or it could contain a dud — cleaning products or toothbrushes.

A porch pirate in Cambridge was less than pleased with his haul — a pink bridesmaid dress. Selling this niche product on the street would prove tricky.

It may not have been valuable to him, but it was to the woman who ordered it, Kitchener court was told Monday.

Last Aug. 20 around 4 p.m., the 40-year-old man was caught on a doorbell camera stealing the package from the front porch of a house on Lawrence Street.

The woman who ordered the dress posted the video on Facebook. Someone who viewed it knew the name of the porch pirate. He was later arrested.

The $175 dress was not recovered.
