The Indiana Court of Appeals is warning Hoosier litigants and lawyers to very carefully review and verify the accuracy of all legal documents prepared using artificial intelligence (AI) tools prior to submitting them to the court.
Judge Nancy Vaidik, a Porter County native, included the warning Monday in an otherwise routine appellate decision affirming an Indianapolis small claims court judgment.
Vaidik said the self-represented plaintiff, who appealed $650 in attorney's fees awarded to his ex-girlfriend, cited in his written brief several federal and state court "cases" that do not exist.
