Whether it's trying deep-fried goodies, jamming to some music or stepping off a carnival ride smiling — the Colorado State Fair is back in action starting this upcoming weekend.
Hosted by the Greater Pueblo Chamber of Commerce and fair board, the Colorado State Fair this year is honoring the Pueblo Police Department as its grand marshal, plus one of the town's late and devoted community members, who is named as this year's parade marshal.
The late Ralph Williams, who organizers said embodied active involvement in the community, is this year's parade marshal — in memoriam. Williams passed away in September last year.
Saturday's parade sets the tone for this year's theme: "Growing traditions." The parade begins at 10 a.m. Saturday along Historic Union Avenue.
