BRANDON — The Harrisburg Woodies (Class A) and Parkston Rays (Class B) each captured their first South Dakota State Amateur Baseball Championships on Sunday, Aug. 17, 2025.

Harrisburg, in its first season of playing Class A, rallied to edge the Renner Monarchs 4-3 in the Class A championship . Parkston, a third-year team, then used an eight-run eighth inning to rally past the Humboldt-Hartford Gamecocks in the Class B championship.

Class A tournament MVP Tyler Mitzel drove in two runs with a homer and a single and also went the distance on the mound, scattering seven hits to go with 11 strikeouts. Renner scored all of its runs in the bottom of the first inning.

Riley Johnson also added two hits for Harrisburg (27-2), which snapped a 3-3 tie on Jack Sutton's run-scoring groundout in
